Job summary

Magna Powertrain is seeking a skilled CNC Technician to maintain CNC programs, tooling, and inserts while developing prototype parts and tooling. You will participate in CIP activities, collaborate across teams and ensure compliance with quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.

You will leverage your five years of CNC programming and setup experience, G-code proficiency, and blueprint reading ability to drive continuous improvement and on-time delivery at Magna Powertrain.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five (5) years of CNC programming and set‑up experience.
• Knowledge of G-Code programming and operations (journeyman card preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of turning and milling.
• Experience in production machining (lathe, mill, induction hardening).
• CMM experience would be an asset; knowledge of hand tools and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of measuring equipment, basic SPC, and safety regulations.
• Drafting/blueprint reading is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop CNC programs manually and with software for efficient machining of parts.
• Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot CNC, lathes and vertical mills to meet quality requirements.
• Operate in line gauging and interpret readings.
• Participate in problem solving and preventive/corrective actions.
• Coordinate tooling preventative maintenance and tool changes.
• Train CNC operators on inserts, tool changes, and robot teaching.
• Maintain setups to minimize downtime and tooling costs.
• Produce parts to close tolerances and on schedule.
