Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manufacturing Engineer & Maintenance Supervisor to lead key engineering initiatives and provide hands-on leadership to our maintenance team. This hybrid role is approximately 75% engineering-focused and 25% supervisory, playing a critical part in optimizing manufacturing processes, improving equipment reliability, and driving operational efficiency through lean principles.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, proactive leadership, and a continuous improvement mindset while balancing hands-on problem solving with strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Engineering (75%)

Lead process optimization efforts to improve production efficiency, product quality, and throughput.

Specify, design, and support procurement and commissioning of new tools, fixtures, and production equipment.

Serve as the lead manufacturing engineer during new product launches or engineering changes, including equipment validation, process readiness, and resolution of production issues.

Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives, including KPI tracking and root cause analysis.

Partner with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Operations) to implement design-for-manufacturing (DFM) strategies.

Use AutoCAD/SolidWorks for equipment layout, process planning, and tooling design.

Apply agile product development methodologies to manufacturing processes.

Maintenance Supervision (25%)

Supervise and provide hands-on support to the maintenance team to reduce downtime and enhance safety.

Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.

Lead safety improvements and ensure timely corrective actions for any identified risks or hazards.

Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout procedures and maintain associated documentation.

Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for equipment service and upgrades.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).

Minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Hands-on experience with equipment specification, installation, and commissioning.

Demonstrated experience with tooling, fixtures, and assembly process design.

Familiarity with controls, HMI systems, drives, and PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley).

Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in web handling, roll-to-roll coating, or textile manufacturing.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project.

Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or agile development practices.

Strong leadership and communication skills across all organizational levels.

Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Team-oriented, self-motivated, and highly adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to manufacturing environments with moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and variable temperatures.

Noise level ranges from low to moderate.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, twist, kneel, climb ladders, and wear PPE including a respirator.

Must be able to navigate the plant floor and access all equipment areas.

Occasional travel may be required.
