Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to move new products from development into full-scale production. You will collaborate with design, quality, supply chain, and production to ensure successful scale-up and robust processes.

The ideal candidate has strong engineering fundamentals, hands-on problem solving, and experience in manufacturing transitions from R&D to production in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering and transitioning products from R&D to manufacturing.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or other process-improvement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify manufacturing processes for new products to meet quality, cost, and production targets.
  • Design and optimize production layouts, tooling, and fixtures for efficient manufacturing.
  • Perform DFx analyses (DFM/ DFA) to improve product design and manufacturability.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate with supply chain to source components and ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
  • Monitor manufacturing metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train production staff on processes, equipment, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot production/quality issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
