Job summary

BorgWarner Inc. Livonia, MI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize briquetting and sizing processes and lead the setup, operation, and repair of press machines.

You will evaluate processes, support product launches, and drive cost reductions while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across shifts as needed. The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, documentation updates (FMEA, control plans, job instructions) and collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial preferred.
• 5+ years related work experience in Powdered Metal manufacturing.
• Experience in the automotive industry or in global manufacturing company.
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated evidence of manufacturing process implementation and improvements.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and a high energy level.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots problems encountered with briquetting and sizing processes, equipment and operations.
• System expert for set-up, operation and repair of all press machines.
• Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement.
• Assist in layouts for integration of new products & equipment into existing plant areas.
• Assist in product launch; optimization of product design for manufacturing and tooling.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes to generate cost reduction opportunities.
• Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products align with safety standards and legal regulations.
• Assist in set-up, testing, validation and running of new equipment.
• Develops/updates required documents like process sheets, control plans, FMEA’s, job instructions, etc.
