Job summary

Siemens Energy in Charlotte, NC seeks a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and introduction of new products into the Gas Turbine Combustion manufacturing portfolio. You will work to identify and manage projects that improve capability, yields, productivity, and capacity on the shop floor.

You will interpret complex drawings with GD&T, utilize SAP or equivalent MRP software and Siemens NX CAD for manufacturing support, and mentor operators and technicians on fixtures,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving assembly, welding/fabrication, and machining.
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications with GD&T.
• Experience with SAP or equivalent MRP software and Siemens NX CAD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and introduction of new products into the Gas Turbine Combustion manufacturing portfolio.
• Identify, justify, and manage projects to improve manufacturing capability, yields, productivity, and capacity.
• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods with knowledge of product design, materials, and production equipment capabilities.
• Support and/or lead department capital programs and improvement projects.
• Ensure processes are clearly defined and communicated on the shop floor via instructions and project briefings.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operators, technicians, and engineers on fixtures, tooling, and equipment.

Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day You will contribute to our business’ success, navigating a very dynamic and fast-paced environment while solving various technical issues relating to complex gas turbine combustion components. You may participate in daily Gemba meetings where part/project priorities are highlighted as they relate to both standard production and various development initiatives. At times, you will be on the shop floor closely working with the operators to create a robust manufacturing process in anticipation of new product release. You will collaborate daily with design and service engineering colleagues on DFM (design for manufacturing) topics for new combustion hardware.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Lead the development and introduction of new products into the Gas Turbine Combustion manufacturing portfolio
• Identify, justify, and manage projects for improving manufacturing capability, yields, productivity, and capacity
• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, programming and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
• Support and/or lead department capital programs (implementation) and department improvement projects.
• Ensure manufacturing processes are clearly defined and communicated from manufacturing engineering to the shop floor via technical instructions, MIs, project briefings etc.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operators, technicians, and manufacturing engineers on the use of fixtures, tooling, and equipment. Communicate and work effectively with design and service engineering colleagues on new product development and introduction

What You Bring

• BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field
• 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving assembly, welding/fabrication, and machining required – PM experience is a plus
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications, including a solid understanding of GD&T. Practical understanding of SAP or equivalent MRP software as well as Siemens NX CAD software or equivalent preferred
• Demonstrable leadership qualities in a team environment through assertiveness, dialogue and coordinating timely actions within the department and by outside influencers
• Solid understanding of root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action methods, exposure to lean concepts, MRP systems, quality control systems
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
