Job summary

Siemens Energy in Charlotte seeks a seasoned professional to lead new product introductions in Gas Turbine Combustion manufacturing. The ideal candidate should have a BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and at least 7 years of relevant manufacturing experience, focusing on assembly and machining.

Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

You will contribute toour business’ success, navigating a very dynamic and fast-paced environmentwhile solving various technical issues relating to complex gas turbinecombustion components. You mayparticipate in daily Gemba meetings where part/project priorities arehighlighted as they relate to both standard production and various developmentinitiatives. At times, you will be on the shop floor closely working with theoperators to create a robust manufacturing process in anticipation of newproduct release. You will collaboratedaily with design and service engineering colleagues on DFM (design formanufacturing) topics for new combustion hardware.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Lead the development and introduction of new products into the Gas Turbine Combustion manufacturing portfolio
  • Identify, justify, and manage projects for improving manufacturing capability, yields, productivity, and capacity
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabricationprocesses, tooling, programming and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Support and/or lead department capital programs (implementation) and department improvement projects.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are clearly defined and communicated from manufacturing engineering to the shop floor via technical instructions, MIs, project briefings etc.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to operators, technicians, and manufacturing engineers on the use of fixtures, tooling, and equipment. Communicate and work effectively with design and service engineering colleagues on new product development and introduction
What You Bring
  • BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving assembly, welding/fabrication, and machining required – PM experience is a plus
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications, including a solid understanding of GD&T. Practical understanding of SAP or equivalent MRP software as well as Siemens NX CAD software or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities in a team environment through assertiveness, dialogue and coordinating timely actions within the department and by outside influencers
  • Solid understanding of root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action methods, exposure to lean concepts, MRP systems, quality control systems
