A Snapshot of Your Day: As Reliability Engineer in the Combustion Products Division, you’ll play a key role in optimizing production processes and improving equipment reliability. In this role, you’ll blend your hands-on, shop floor-based mechanical and controls expertise with project management, continuous improvement, and clear internal communication. Your problem‑solving skills will support day-to-day, real-time production needs through direct equipment engagement while also driving long‑term improvements that strengthen capability, efficiency in identifying root causes, and overall operational excellence within the energy sector.

This role requires significant on-the-floor, hands-on presence working directly with manufacturing equipment on a daily basis.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Identify and support projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing capabilities, yields, productivity, and capacity, by designing and integrating new data capture and analysis tools via IoT and using Lean Manufacturing principles where applicable, with direct involvement on the production floor.
  • Develop and deliver technical documentation, estimates, reports, and training materials based on hands-on process observations and data to facilitate knowledge transfer and process improvement.
  • Provide technical direction and training to internal teams and suppliers, ensuring alignment with best practices and operational goals, through on-the-floor coaching and demonstration.
  • Monitor and analyze production and equipment performance metrics to maintain cost and quality targets, focusing on production yield, defect reduction, and machine uptime, while actively inspecting and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Manage individual Root Cause Analysis investigations and report-outs in response to machine and process failures encountered, including physical inspection, testing, and validation of solutions.
  • Assist in asset and process management, including conducting operational audits, managing scrap processes and root causes, and training personnel and leading special projects as directed by management, with active, hands-on involvement in equipment and processes.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering, or an associate’s degree with equivalent experience required.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment focused on machine programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance, with strong hands-on equipment interaction.
  • Hands-on machine inspection and creation of data gathering mechanisms is required.
  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs), diagnosing control‑system issues, and integrating IoT‑enabled devices and sensors into automated systems, with practical application in a live production environment.
  • Familiarity with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and demonstrated mechanical aptitude for hands-on equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of lean concepts, MRP systems, quality control, and predictive maintenance systems is essential.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills; preferred qualifications include EHS knowledge and equipment safety protocols, with the ability to lead through hands-on engagement.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
