Job summary

HSM, headquartered in Hickory, NC, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to drive production improvements and lean initiatives across stamping, tube bending, welding and fabrication processes. You will analyze operations, identify bottlenecks, and support cross-functional teams to boost productivity and quality.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years in manufacturing engineering, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and hands-on experience with high-volume metal manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
• Experience in metal manufacturing processes such as stamping, tube bending, welding, or fabrication.
• Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments (automotive, transportation, or heavy manufacturing).

Responsibilities

• Improve production performance by analyzing operations, reducing cycle times, increasing throughput and equipment utilization.
• Lead process improvements including root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and standardized work instructions.
• Optimize plant layout and workflow to improve material flow, space utilization and operator efficiency.
• Support quality and compliance by helping maintain ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and VDA standards and reducing scrap and defects.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality and engineering teams to drive productivity.
