NWU in Huntington Beach, CA seeks an engineering student to design molds and tools for customer parts, generating ply/kits from designs and programming projector data. This role supports production cost reduction and design for manufacturability to scale for increasing order volumes.

The position involves hands-on collaboration with production teams to identify issues and develop scalable solutions, with emphasis on documentation and professional crafting of manufacturing drawings using NX,

Competenze

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
• Students will apply engineering knowledge to real-world composite manufacturing projects.
• Experience with composites manufacturing (projects, hobbies, or work) is a plus.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Designing molds and tools for customer parts with thorough documentation.
• Generating ply/kits from customer designs and programming projector data.
• Supporting customer production cost reduction and design for manufacturability (DFM) efforts to scale and meet growing quantity demands.
• Engaging hands‑on with production to identify issues and bottlenecks, and developing scalable solutions to ease their workload.

About You

The company is looking for:

• An individual with a positive attitude who is enjoyable to work with.
• A candidate pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
• Some background or experience in composites manufacturing, such as through school projects, hobbies, or work experience.
• Proficiency in a professional CAD suite (NX, SolidWorks, Catia, etc.) and ability to create professional manufacturing drawings.
• U.S. Person status to access export‑controlled data, meeting ITAR requirements.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Proficient understanding of designing for composites lamination, machining, and 3D printing.
• Experience with composites manufacturing methods such as vacuum infusion (VARTM), compression molding, trapped rubber molding, or wet‑layup.
