As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will support the research and development efforts of new and emerging manufacturing technologies while sustaining production on existing products within the Motion Control business unit. In this hands-on role you will work directly with members of the Mechanical and Systems Engineering teams to translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will also identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. As an integral member of the team, you will conduct PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test and accelerate the pace of manufacturing systems development.

Responsibilities Include but aren't limited to:

  • Participate in the entire design, manufacturing and test cycle of rapid prototypes, mechanical components, subassemblies, and top-level assemblies spanning a variety of electro-mechanical/ motion control products.
  • Select raw materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Plan and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure products are produced efficiently, cost-effectively, and with high quality standards.
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and then provide reports containing the data and statistics to enable better understand of future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Identify specialty tooling/ fixture needs within production processes.
  • Generate Manufacturing Work Instructions to support entire assembly process for various electro-mechanical/ motion control products.
  • Participate in design, procurement, manufacturing, and validation of specialty tooling/ fixtures.
  • Perform Manufacturing Readiness Reviews to ensure production team is set up for success prior to beginning production.
  • Collaborate closely with production technician teams during hardware production.
  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control
  • Implement new technologies including automation of production and test processes.
  • Collaborate multi-functionally with design, quality, and test teams during anomaly investigations to promptly identify root cause and implement corrective/ preventative actions to address non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with production management, planning, and program management teams to ensure production achievements are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, system engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Skilled in engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
  • Knowledgeable in hardware manufacturing (i.e. additively manufactured components, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, in-process testing of hardware, and Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software).
  • Understanding of fundamentals for developing/starting new manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in written communication, interpersonal skills, technical knowledge, and software proficiency (CAD, ERP, MES, Scheduling, Non-Conformance Tracking, Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IFS Cloud processes including but not limited to Product Structures, Routings, Work Guidelines, Control Plans, Shop Floor Workbench, and Change Request.
  • Experience working within MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, and PDM.
  • Experience in tooling design and development in a manufacturing environment.
  • Material selection, compatibility, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience with rapid development techniques for hardware.
  • Experience with developing, writing and updating production and in-process test procedures.
  • Experience with mechanical drafting including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing of machined components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with aPriori software.
  • Experience generating and troubleshooting LabView and Python software.

Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $81,745.00-$114,442.65
