Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for the AST division in Newton, NJ, overseeing production improvements, assembly techniques, and quality across production and related departments. Occasional travel to other locations or suppliers may be required.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and at least 1 year in a relevant electronics/electrical manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant engineering position, or related position in electronics/electrical manufacturing.
• Design for Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify problems and provide solutions for manufacturing issues relating to new and established production workflow.
• Plan production layouts to facilitate lean manufacturing and Six Sigma standards.
• Participate in design reviews with engineering to discuss procedures and potential issues prior to production.
• Conduct training with production personnel to improve manufacturing and testing processes.
• Interface with engineering and operations to ensure transfers to production follow approved release processes and specifications.
• Collaborate with RMA/service to inspect and disposition customer returns and implement corrective actions.
