Job summary

Thorlabs’ AST division seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and improve production processes for electronic products. You will develop assembly techniques, analyze manufacturing issues, and promote quality across production and related departments.

Occasional travel to other Thorlabs locations may be required. You will work with engineering, RMA, and service teams to ensure smooth transfer of new releases, create process documents, and implement improvements for manufacturability and test

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant engineering position in electronics/electrical manufacturing.
• Design for Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing experience a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Identify problems and provide solutions for manufacturing issues relating to products and production workflows.
• Plan production layouts to facilitate lean manufacturing and Six Sigma standards.
• Contribute to design reviews to identify procedures and potential production issues.
• Train production personnel to improve manufacturing and testing processes across the division.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to transfer new releases to production per approved processes.
