Job summary

HNI Corporation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to join the Workplace Furnishings Operations team in Muscatine, IA. The role focuses on supporting manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement, and enhancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

You will work with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams, applying lean tools and data-driven analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, while learning new technologies and engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or a related field.
• Internship, co-op, manufacturing, or engineering project experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing processes, production flow, assembly methods, and equipment improvements.
• Provide engineering support for day-to-day operational challenges using lean problem-solving tools.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) performance.
• Partner with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to achieve operational goals.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities utilizing lean principles such as RCI, MDI, 5S, and root cause analysis.
• Support process changes, equipment implementations, and project execution activities.
• Collect and analyze data to identify trends and support operational improvements.
• Learn and apply new manufacturing technologies, systems, and engineering tools.
