Manufacturing Engineer – Electronics Assembly
The Panther Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our client’s engineering team in Clearwater, FL. This position will focus on improving manufacturing processes for circuit card assemblies (CCAs), cable assemblies, and modules within a high-reliability aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with electronics or mechanical assembly manufacturing, process improvement, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, and manufacturing documentation. What You’ll Do
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for circuit card assemblies (CCAs), cable assemblies, and modules.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality, and increase reliability.
- Lead and support process improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to manufacturing processes.
- Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing documentation, including: Work instructions Standard operating procedures (SOPs) Training materials Process documentation Fixture and stencil design specifications
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to implement process changes.
- Conduct manufacturing trials and experiments to validate process improvements and ensure compatibility with existing equipment and systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production personnel.
- Train and mentor production staff on new or updated processes as needed.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate process effectiveness and identify additional improvement opportunities.
- Support troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and processes on the production floor.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and quality objectives across the manufacturing operation.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and quality control methods.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work directly with production teams and provide technical guidance.
- Ability to spend extended periods standing and walking on the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to climb stairs and perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and stretching when accessing or troubleshooting equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electronics or manufacturing assembly experience.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or related professional certification.
- Experience supporting the MK48 program.
- Experience with data analytics and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Knowledge of industry standards such as: IPC-A-610 IPC-J-STD-001 MIL-STD-130
- Experience with automation, robotics, or AI technologies.
- Proficiency with CAD/design software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
Pay $40-56 per hour DOE
