Position Overview
The Electro Mechanical Assembler is responsible for performing advanced electro mechanical assembly while also providing day to day leadership to the assembly team. This position oversees workflow, assigns tasks, monitors quality, and acts as the primary technical resource for complex builds and troubleshooting activities. The Assembler partners closely with engineering, quality, and production management to ensure efficient operations, consistent output, and adherence to all safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Coordination
- Oversee daily activities of assemblers, ensuring schedules, priorities, and production goals are met.
- Assign tasks based on skill level, workload, and project requirements.
- Monitor overall workflow, identify bottlenecks, and escalate issues when required.
- Train, mentor, and support new and existing team members on assembly procedures, quality expectations, and safety protocols.
- Serve as the point of contact between production team members and supervisors/engineering.
Technical Responsibilities
- Perform advanced assembly of complex electro mechanical systems including wiring, harness routing, soldering, mechanical integration, and testing.
- Interpret and work from complex drawings, schematics, BOMs, engineering changes, and technical documentation.
- Conduct advanced diagnostic testing and system level troubleshooting using specialized electrical and mechanical tools.
- Support first article builds, pilot production runs, and engineering prototype assemblies.
- Review and verify accuracy of completed assemblies, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
Quality & Process Improvement
- Ensure team adherence to quality control procedures, documentation requirements, and inspection standards.
- Identify recurring defects, workflow inefficiencies, or design issues and recommend improvements to engineering and production leadership.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Assist with maintaining and improving 5S, lean manufacturing practices, and process standardization.
Documentation & Communication
- Ensure production records, travelers, checklists, and inspection data are completed correctly and on time.
- Provide input on revisions to work instructions, assembly procedures, and training documents.
- Communicate daily progress, risks, and resource needs to supervisors and cross functional teams.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical training or an associate degree in electronics, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
- 5–8+ years of experience in electro mechanical assembly, system integration, or advanced technical assembly roles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, or coordinate small teams in a production environment.
- Expert proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong capability with advanced tools: torque systems, soldering stations, crimping tools, meters, oscilloscopes, calipers, and alignment tools.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex assembly or engineering build issues.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear direction and feedback.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work on the production floor for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC A 610, IPC/WHMA A 620, J STD 001, or similar certifications.
- Experience in a regulated or high reliability industry (medical, aerospace, defense, robotics, etc.).
- Experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) or prototype/engineering builds.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and digital work instruction software.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Production environment with exposure to electronics, small mechanical parts, tools, and test equipment.
- Requires strict adherence to PPE, ESD controls, safety, and quality protocols.
- Regular collaboration with assembly teams, engineering, quality, and production management.
