Job summary

Zekelman Industries in Niles, OH is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement and optimize manufacturing systems that convert raw materials into high-quality products. You will work with production, maintenance and engineering teams to improve safety, reliability and efficiency on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in manufacturing engineering or related environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, PLCs, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Experience with MES, SAP, and data analysis; ability to read drawings and schematics.
• Strong problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and system improvements.
• Analyze existing operations to identify optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings.
• Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and improve reliability.
• Optimize production workflows and schedules to reduce lead times.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve OEE.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Assist with installation, testing, commissioning, and startup of new equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance.
• Lead and promote safe work practices and assist with other duties as assigned.
