Job summary

VAERO in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement manufacturing plans for new programs and to support current programs in order to improve cost, quality and delivery timelines.

You will prepare pre-plans and schedules for tool fabrication and production methods, design production systems, perform producibility studies, support proposals, budgeting, and supplier interactions, and guide junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field required.
• Reads simple to moderately complex blueprints and drawings.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement manufacturing plans for new programs; support current programs to improve cost, quality and delivery.
• Prepare manufacturing engineering, tool design and tool fabrication pre-plans and schedules.
• Design production systems and select manufacturing methods to meet cost, schedule and quality goals.
• Provide sustaining engineering and pursue manufacturing improvements.
• Assist in budgeting and cost estimation; conduct producibility studies.
• Assist in proposals including tooling choices and cost definitions.
• Perform make-versus-buy analyses and provide recommendations.
• Prepare production operations specs, tooling requirements and vendor instructions.
• Interact with customers on material selections and tolerances affecting producibility and cost.
• Direct and guide junior engineers and technicians; maintain records and data schedules.
• Prepare technical data and cost estimates for customer requirements.
• Review vendor instructions and prepare inspection requirements and summaries.
• Provide ME support to Lean, cellular standardization and continuous improvement.
