Job summary

Quanex in Jackson, GA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive product and process design, manufacturability studies, plant layouts, and documentation. You will lead project estimation, financial justification, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver profitable improvements.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Engineering and at least two years of manufacturing/design experience, with SolidWorks and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of ScienceDegree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a product/design/manufacturing engineer or related field.
• Proficient in project management and communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to assess problems or issues with manufacturing equipment.
• Fluent in SolidWorks and other applicable engineering programs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare RFEs for projects to implement new tools and equipment with potential long-term impact on profitability.
• Lead the design estimation process including feasibility, timing, assembly, testing, and costs.
• Determine and justify projects financially including labor savings, efficiency gains, scrap reduction, safety improvements, IRR and payback.
• Develop documentation for manufacturability: BOMs, flow charts, drawings, schematics, and piping/orientation drawings.
• Coordinate with electrical engineering to ensure design meets electrical requirements and operates efficiently.
• Manage total project activities with plans for timely completion within implementation teams.
• Provide technical assistance to all company departments and customers.
