Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Sioux Falls, SD to lead project activities in design, modifications, and documentation. The role requires a 2+ year background in CI/Mechanical/Manufacturing engineering and proficiency with SolidWorks and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two years in CI/Mechanical/Manufacturing engineering or related field.
• Experience with kaizen events preferred.
• Proficient in project management and communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepares RFEs for projects to implement new tools and equipment with potential high impact on profitability.
• Leads design estimation including feasibility, time estimates, assembly, testing and project costs.
• Calculates financial justification via labor savings, efficiency gains, scrap reduction, safety improvements; includes IRR and payback.
• Develops manufacturability documentation: BOMs, flow charts, drawings, schematics, piping and orientation drawings.
• Communicates design intent to electrical engineering to ensure proper electrical requirements and efficient operation.
• Manages total project activities with plans for timely completion; participates in implementation teams.
• Provides technical assistance across departments and with customers.
