Job summary

Quanex Building Products Corp. in Jackson, GA is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead manufacturing process development and optimization, driving efficiency, quality and productivity through data analysis and cross-functional collaboration.

You will own technical work, develop SOPs, apply Lean Six Sigma, and guide capital equipment projects while supporting continuous improvement to meet regulatory and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in process engineering in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with process simulation software and analytics tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of process control systems and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with operators, maintenance and others to solve processing issues.
  • Apply data analysis to identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction and quality gains.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and work instructions.
  • Use lean practices to optimize processes.
  • Lead installation and specification of capital equipment for new products.
  • Provide performance specs for equipment enhancements.
  • Develop improvements to existing products and processes.
  • Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams.

What Success Looks Like
  • Communicate with operators, maintenance personnel and others to determine engineering solutions to processing issues.

  • Develop and maintain advanced process documentation, including detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Use lean and continuous improvement practices to optimize processes.
  • Design, specify and lead installation of capital equipment for new product manufacture.
  • Provide performance specifications for any new equipment or equipment enhancements.
  • Develop modifications to the existing products and processes for improved quality and efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in process engineering or a related role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in process simulation software, statistical analysis tools, and data visualization techniques
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with process control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

The salary range for this position is $68,500 to $100,000 with bonus potential.
