Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in York, PA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for compressor assembly. You will develop and refine assembly processes, train operators, and support new equipment installation to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

You will work closely with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Safety teams to optimize tooling, fixtures, and workflow, ensuring safe, reliable production aligned with plant goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 3–5 years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, 7–10 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with 8D, A3, DMAIC problem-solving methods.
  • Experience improving or supporting production processes and familiarity with lean principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and 3D CAD software; SolidWorks or Creo experience preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining standard work instructions and production controls.
  • Ability to identify cost-reduction opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
  • Experience with compressor assembly, machining, or heat-treatment support preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and improves compressor assembly processes, methods, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Provides daily technical support to compressor assembly and resolves fitup/ torque issues.
  • Manages capital planning and procurement for compressor assembly equipment.
  • Leads continuous improvement and cost-reduction activities across the line.
  • Reviews and approves engineering drawings via ECN processes.
  • Maintains manufacturing support software and visual controls.
  • Plans facility/layout changes to meet production volume and ergonomics.
  • Collaborates with machining to ensure seamless flow and manufacturability.
  • Leads 6S activities and Kaizen events for reliability and efficiency.
