Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Assembly Projects and Process Improvement in Lafayette, IN. You will lead safe, lean, cost-effective manufacturing processes for Assembly operations, driving new capital introductions and major improvements from concept to production startup and sustainment.

The role requires strong problem solving, cross‑functional collaboration, and hands‑on leadership on the shop floor, with a focus on safety, quality, velocity, and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Experience leading capital projects and lean manufacturing improvements.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional reviews and manage projects on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing engineering activities for new capital introduction and process improvements in Assembly.
• Benchmark processes, identify gaps, and define future-state layouts and workflows.
• Develop equipment concepts, technical specs, and supplier evaluations.
• Lead PFMEA, Control Plans, process design reviews, and risk assessments.
• Ensure readiness for implementation, startup, and production sustainment.
• Monitor performance and drive corrective actions for safety, quality, and efficiency.
