Job summary

Zebra Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 initiatives with Tier 1 suppliers in a hybrid role based in Lincolnshire, IL or other listed locations. You will drive process improvements, manage changes, and validate manufacturing processes through data-driven analyses and cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in manufacturing/process engineering, a BS or MS in engineering, and exposure to GMP/regulated environments.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical etc.) with 5+ years of experience or MS with 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering/Process engineering/Industrial engineering/Logistics/Lean Six Sigma

Responsibilities

  • Lead, implement and validate Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 maturity level with Tier 1 suppliers or Distribution Centers.
  • Drive process improvements using LSS and Industry 4.0 tools such as Line Balancing, 5S, TPM, and Digitization solutions.
  • Conduct LSS & Industry 4.0 audits to measure maturity level and identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to analyze and improve processes focusing on root cause and eliminating recurrence.
  • Manage Engineering Change, Deviations and MFGO processes evaluating impact, risk, and material disposition.
  • Review and approve work instructions and validate manufacturing processes and parameters.
  • Ensure production BOM accuracy and alignment with Agile references.
  • Drive cost-reduction projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop relationships with other engineering disciplines to implement innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams from concept phase to drive DFX principles.

What We're Looking For:

Design, develop, analyze, and implement manufacturing process in collaboration with Tier 1 suppliers. Lead Tier 1 suppliers teams to identify the root causes and resolution of manufacturing and quality issues. Drive day to day manufacturing operation and New Product Introduction. Supports various operational groups in cost reduction projects of Mass Production and New Products Introduction. Drive continuous improvement to enhance quality, efficiency and cost using LSS and Industry 4.0 as framework.

This role is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of three days per week in one of the Zebra office locations listed below: Zebra reserves the right to modify your work location based on business need.

  • Lead, implement and validate Lean Six Sigma and Industry 4.0 maturity level with Tier 1 suppliers or Distribution Centers.
  • Drive process improvements using LSS and Industry 4.0 tools: for example: Line Balancing, Continuous Flow Line Layout, Point of Use, 5S, TPM, OMS, Cross training, CTQ, PFMEA, Automation, Digitization solutions, etc.
  • Conduct LSS & Industry 4.0 audits to measure maturity level and identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Work with internal and external teams to analyze and improve process focusing on root cause and eliminate the re-occurrence.
  • Manage Engineering Change, Deviations and MFGO process: Evaluating the impact, risk, and material disposition.
  • Review and approve work instructions and validate the approved manufacturing process and parameter are correctly implemented.
  • Ensure production BOM is accurate and aligned with Agile references.
  • Drive Cost reduction projects implementation with cross functional teams.
  • Manage assets/fixtures/tools development/fabrication/validation/management.
  • Review and update Labor and MVA Models.
  • Makes and implements recommendations to improve process capabilities for Mass Production and New Products introduction.
  • Develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines and other functions for solving problems and innovative solutions implementation.
  • Collaborate with the engineering teams from the concept phase to drive DFX principles
Minimum Education:
  • BS degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical etc.) with 5+ years of experience OR Master's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical etc.) with 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering/Process engineering /Industrial engineering/Logistics/ Lean Six Sigma
Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge/ Experience in with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and working in Medical Devices, Personal Care, Consumer Electronics or Pharmaceutical manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong Knowledge of Process/Industrial Engineering and Lean & Six Sigma (E.g., Design of Experiments & Root-Cause Analysis).
  • New Product launch and Project Management experience
  • Process FMEA, Control Plan and Error proofing implementation experience
  • Creating cost models and performing feasibility analysis.
  • Working knowledge for project payback analysis and financial justification - ROI.
  • Working with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Analytical, Safety, Regulatory, Technology Assurance (or equivalent), and Quality Assurance (where applicable), in a technical role.
  • Proficient in MS office software
  • Green Belt as a plus

Pay Range:

$108,960.00 - $163,440.00 Annual

Incentive Compensation:

In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 12% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
