Job summary

Welbilt Inc. in Parsons, TN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

You will analyze production methods, equipment, materials, and workflows to drive continuous improvement across cross-functional teams and support new product introductions. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with relevant experience in manufacturing/industrial environments.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills across audiences.
  • Experience with process improvements and standard work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work on or lead capital equipment projects and automation initiatives.

  • Lead or support capital equipment projects and automation efforts.
  • Support NPD and Engineering Change processes through documentation and training.
  • Ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly in product designs.

Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. This role analyzes production methods, equipment, materials, and workflows to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence. Working cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams, the Industrial Manufacturing Engineer implements process improvements, supports new product introductions, and drives lean manufacturing initiatives to achieve business objectives.


Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager Indirect, this position is based on-site in Parsons, TN*.


Major Accountability


  • Documentation of assembly processes, work instructions, procedures, and plant layouts

  • Ensure assembly times are monitored and documented, and related issues tracked, to provide input to operations staff on needed improvements.

  • Maintain MBOM, Product Routings, and Standards

  • Coordinate Engineering Change process between Design Engineering and Manufacturing for product design issues / improvements

  • Drive Continuous Improvement of processes and assembly methods by using Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools

  • Lead or support capital equipment projects


Key Tasks & Responsibilities


  • Prepare and maintain Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Product Routings, Plant Layouts, and Work Instructions for Manufacturing while interacting with hourly employees and office personnel

  • Perform role on Safety Incident Investigation Teams, as needed, and conduct safety inspections and tasks as required

  • Drives continuous improvement and lean initiatives with a focus on workflow, layout, Kaizen events, standardized work, 5S, and automation

  • Support or leads projects to improve processes and product designs (i.e. fixturing, design changes, and capital equipment justifications)

  • Support or lead the adoption of new technologies within the manufacturing environment

  • Support the New Product Development and Engineering Change processes through process documentation, routing maintenance, pilot runs, and employee training

  • Recommends product design improvements to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly

  • Performs workflow balancing and time studies

  • Works as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing to ensure a smooth implementation of deviations and Engineering Change Notices

  • Maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, manufacturing processes, and work force utilization

  • Consistently operate in a manner that aligns to the Company Core Values


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing or Industrial environment

  • Process / Manufacturing engineering experience preferred

  • Six Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred

  • Capital equipment project and automation experience preferred

  • Effectively communicates, written/oral: can connect and communicate with different audiences

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.

  • Proficient Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time and wear PPE as needed.
