Job summary

Kolpak is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to be based on-site in Parsons, TN. The role emphasizes designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

You will analyze methods, equipment, materials and workflows, drive lean initiatives, support NPI and Engineering Change, and collaborate across production, quality, maintenance, supply chain and engineering to deliver continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain MBOM, Product Routings, Plant Layouts, and Work Instructions.
  • Lead or support Lean manufacturing initiatives and Kaizen events.
  • Coordinate Engineering Change processes between Design Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Support New Product Development and Engineering Change processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes and assembly methods.

Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. This role analyzes production methods, equipment, materials, and workflows to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence. Working cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams, the Industrial Manufacturing Engineer implements process improvements, supports new product introductions, and drives lean manufacturing initiatives to achieve business objectives.Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager Indirect, this position is based on-site in Parsons, TN*.Major Accountability:Documentation of assembly processes, work instructions, procedures, and plant layoutsEnsure assembly times are monitored and documented, and related issues tracked, to provide input to operations staff on needed improvements.Maintain MBOM, Product Routings, and StandardsCoordinate Engineering Change process between Design Engineering and Manufacturing for product design issues / improvementsDrive Continuous Improvement of processes and assembly methods by using Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma toolsLead or support capital equipment projectsKey Tasks & Responsibilities:Prepare and maintain Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Product Routings, Plant Layouts, and Work Instructions for Manufacturing while interacting with hourly employees and office personnelPerform role on Safety Incident Investigation Teams, as needed, and conduct safety inspections and tasks as requiredDrives continuous improvement and lean initiatives with a focus on workflow, layout, Kaizen events, standardized work, 5S, and automationSupport or leads projects to improve processes and product designs (i.e. fixturing, design changes, and capital equipment justifications)Support or lead the adoption of new technologies within the manufacturing environmentSupport the New Product Development and Engineering Change processes through process documentation, routing maintenance, pilot runs, and employee trainingRecommends product design improvements to ensure manufacturability and ease of assemblyPerforms workflow balancing and time studiesWorks as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing to ensure a smooth implementation of deviations and Engineering Change NoticesMaximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, manufacturing processes, and work force utilizationConsistently operate in a manner that aligns to the Company Core ValuesBachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing or Industrial environmentProcess / Manufacturing engineering experience preferredSix Sigma and/or Lean certification preferredCapital equipment project and automation experience preferredEffectively communicates, written/oral: can connect and communicate with different audiencesDemonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.Proficient Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time and wear PPE as needed.Our Benefits:We believe that our people are one of our most valuable assets.
