Job summary

Safran Seats USA is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer 2 to help develop and ramp high‑quality passenger seats. You will work with a cross‑functional team to implement manufacturability and process improvements across assembly and testing steps.

The candidate will review drawings, create work Instructions, and support launches to maintain seating quality and efficiency for global customers.

Qualifications

• Education aligned with engineering disciplines or 6 years related experience.
• Experience in manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Six Sigma or lean certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical development of a product from conception to production.
• Use core tools such as PFMEA, DFMA, control plans.
• Collaborate across engineering, operations, tooling to resolve issues.
• Review and approve engineering drawings per DFM guidelines.
• Create and maintain detailed work instructions.
• Ensure design and process meet quality standards.
• Support production during new product launches; address issues.
• Suggest design/tolerance/process improvements.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

Main Function Responsibilities:

1. i) Manage the technical development of a product from conception to production
2. ii) Utilize core tools such as PFMEA, DFMA, control plans, etc.
3. iii) Collaborate with engineering, operations, tooling and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes
4. iv) Review and approve or reject engineering drawings in accordance with internal DFM guidelines and requirements
5. v) Create and maintain detailed work instructions
6. vi) Ensure design and process are sufficient to produce the quality of product required by internal and external standards
7. vii) Support production areas, fabrication and final assembly, when new product is being launched to quickly address and correct and issues that may arise
8. viii) Recommend changes to designs, tolerances, or processing methods to resolve production issues
9. ix) Design and develop the process as necessary to produce the product at the volume and quality required
10. x) Attend design reviews and provide relevant feedback for manufacturability
11. xi) Support engineering as necessary through development phase (collaboration, drawing review, etc.)

For DEV process, Industrialization Leader is responsible for:

• Contributing to and participating in PBS reviews.
• Preparing and presenting Industrialization Reviews to Program Industrial Manager.

Qualification Requirements

A. Education & Qualification-

• B.S degree in a related technical field (e.g.: Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer/Technology, Aeronautics Engineer, or Electrical Engineer) or an Associate degree with 6 years related experience or 12 years of job related experience

B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge-

• Three years of manufacturing experience preferred but not required
• Catia or design modeling a plus
• Six Sigma or lean certification preferred.

C. Professional Skills-

• Must have basic knowledge of production methods, process capabilities, tooling processes, and manufacturing processes
• Must be capable of preparing well-written reports and orderly reports
• Must have basic knowledge of manufacturing and related operations with detailed knowledge of such fields as product design, engineering function, tool design, tool fabrication, ergonomics and EHS, space layout, handling equipment, production machinery and equipment, N/C machinery and equipment, factory methods work, etc…
• Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles preferred
• Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and Operating Systems
• Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
• Ability to read and review written communication.
• Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

D. Behavioral Skills-
