Safran Seats in Gainesville, Texas, is seeking a Design Engineer 3 to contribute to the development of high-quality seats for global aircraft programs. The role focuses on concept configurations, design reviews, and interface with customers and vendors to meet program requirements.
With a background in mechanical design and aircraft seat knowledge, you will support layout creation, design standardization, and BOM preparation while driving efficient task completion and adherence to specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or 12 years equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- +5 years of related design experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- +4 years of related design experience with a Master's degree.
- Experience in aircraft seat product design is required.
- Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 or Pro/Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Confers with customers and vendors on design requirements for seat programs.
- Reviews design specifications and incorporates into the product.
- Prepares layouts of overall design tasks including structural and articulation systems.
- Defines design standards to maintain commonality with existing product line.
- Sets goals to complete tasks expeditiously.
- Prepares advanced bill of materials and long-lead item lists.
- Review design package for conformance to latest specifications and regulations.
- Prepares drawings for release.

- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree (minimum of 12 years equivalent related engineering experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree) OR
- Must have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical and Energy Engineering or a related engineering degree.
- plus an additional 5 years of related design experience required with Bachelors degree.
- plus an additional 4 years of related design experience required with Masters degree.
- Applicable experience may be acquired prior to, during, or following completion of degree.
- Must have excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 (or higher) and/or Pro/Engineer.
- Requires advanced knowledge of aircraft seat products.
- Must have good knowledge of materials and production processes, and mechanical knowledge of parts and stress conditions.
- Requirement have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
- Ability to read and review written communication.
- Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
