Description:

Microbest Engineers are responsible for engineering tasks both at the desk and on the shop floor. Engineers should be capable of understanding, creating, and editing CNC code for machining turned and milled products. Experience with CAM software is required.

Hands-on skills working with CNC mills and lathes are essential, including tool setting, fixture setup, tool offset adjustment, program testing, product inspection, and methods to eliminate deviations. Experience with automation systems and Swiss-style CNC lathes is a plus.

Engineers should be able to create and troubleshoot multi-step manufacturing processes, understand GD&T, specifications (AMS, SAE, etc.), and lean practices. They must troubleshoot problematic processes and develop structured countermeasures.

Teamwork skills are essential for collaborating effectively with a variety of individuals.

Requirements:

  • Troubleshoot problematic manufacturing processes, including sub-standard or non-compliant products and excessive maintenance issues.
  • Support the creation of functional manufacturing processes for efficiency.
  • Create and edit CNC programs using manual G-code and CAM software like SolidWorks and SURFCAM.
  • Assist in developing inspection processes and gauges for manufacturing components.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities, investigating issues and implementing LEAN-based countermeasures.
  • Work collaboratively with peers and co-workers to resolve issues and enhance processes.
  • Support the design of multi-step manufacturing processes meeting customer and company requirements.
  • Proficiency with CAM software, specifically SolidWorks and SURFCAM, is required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a CNC machining environment.
  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC lathes and mills.
  • Ability to own projects and drive them to completion.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to manually and via CAM software, edit G-code CNC programs.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Team player with professional conduct.
  • Experience with variable CNC programming and controls like Okuma and Fanuc is helpful.

Working Conditions:

  • Work on a partially air-conditioned manufacturing floor and in an office environment.
  • Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor working directly on machinery and with shop personnel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, and bending throughout the day.
  • Climbing stairs and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Reports To:

  • No direct reports.

Compensation & Working Hours:

  • Salaried, 1st shift position.
  • Minimum of 45 hours per week, with additional hours as needed.
