Manufacturing Engineer

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.
  • Interface with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  • Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Document procedures, process qualifications, work instructions, shop aids, routings, etc.
  • Monitor product yield, provide product factory/field failure root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide engineering support for the development of test jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement and cost reduction processes.
  • Identify opportunities for preventing waste and inefficiency during production.
  • Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing lean manufacturing, kaizen, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis to formulate and support innovation, corrective actions, and improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain insights and direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering – prefer Manufacturing, Electrical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with analytical tools, workflow time studies, and process balancing
  • 5 years’ experience
  • Experience with building small prototypes
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to clearly recognize and export information relevant to sound manufacturing engineering design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, problem-solving techniques, and quality processes
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Travel as needed to customer and/or vendor sites
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Experience programming ATE in Python
  • LabVIEW experience an asset
  • SolidWorks experience an asset
  • Microwave RF experience an asset
