Job summary

Dover Corporation MPG in Salisbury, MD is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, direct and optimize manufacturing processes, leveraging Lean and CI methodologies to improve throughput and quality. You will collaborate with design engineering to ramp new products and apply data-driven methods to forecast needs.

Qualifications include a engineering degree with 5+ years in manufacturing or 10+ years progressive experience, plus ERP and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years manufacturing experience or 10+ years progressive manufacturing experience.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques such as Value Stream mapping, LSW, and A3 facilitation.
  • Experience with complex BOMs, routings, costing in ERP systems and time studies.

  • Document manufacturing methods for reproducibility by others.
  • Work with design engineering to transition new products to production and improve processes.

Develops and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.Job Duties/Responsibilities:Documents manufacturing methods in a manner in which others can produce a product with little or no knowledge of the product.Aids in product design utilizing Design for Manufacturing and Assembly concepts. Works with design engineering for introduction of new products to production.Analyses and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.Confers with vendors to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts.Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs. Confers with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, etc. to facilitate production processes.Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements. Understanding of RF Theory and the cause-and-effect relationship between electrical and mechanical properties may be utilized in higher levels of position.Has direct influence on Continuous Improvement methodologies and creating a culture of learning and growth.Continuous Improvement/Automation implementation:Design and implement engineering and/or process solutions for increased quality, improved throughput and reduced costsDevelopment of automation for assembly or testing phasesApply lean manufacturing techniques to existing manual assembly lines to improve quality and productivityWork with design engineers to transition new product/improvements into assemblies which can effectively be built with minimum variation by assembly personnelSupport continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen activities and Lean 6SigmaQUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY: KSA’sBachelor’s degree in engineering required with five years of related experience or 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experienceAbility to apply and facilitate others on the basics of continuous improvement (LEAN) principles utilizing techniques such as: Value Stream mapping, Leadership Standard Work (LSW), A3 facilitationMust be able to demonstrate use of Windows based software tools such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint or equalHigh degree of interpersonal and communication skills requiredUnderstanding and use of complex process methodologies in order to develop parts and assemblies in at least one discipline (Machining, castings or Injection molding).
