Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer supports production through the optimization of processes, and alignment of resources to tasks. The position conducts complex problem analysis, and leads varying projects focused on process improvement. The Manufacturing Engineer utilizes data to ensure production in a timely manner, increasing throughput, decreasing operational costs, and improving quality.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support production on a day-to-day basis and ensure product is being manufactured and released in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations in a timely manner to support customers.
  • Provides focused technical/engineer support to Operations on manufacturing projects with an emphasis on capacity analysis, yield improvements, cost reduction, validations, quality and partnering with new product engineers to launch products and new processes.
  • Identifies and leads or supports continuous improvement initiatives with production team members and quality.
  • Provides expertise and technical communications on quality issues.
  • Utilizes root cause analysis methods and statistical tools to resolve manufacturing issues, make impactful recommendations for process improvements, identify constraints and eliminate.
  • Work with Programmers, Engineers and shop floor team members to develop and maintain production schedules.
  • Determine and purchase material required to support production.
  • Work as part of a team to develop and manage production strategy to mitigate future manufacturing risks and seize emerging opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost.
  • Provides cross-functional support to other areas within the company.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience (can include relevant internships and/or CO-OP experience.) Prior experience in medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Technical experience/aptitude to support: CNC machining, laser etch, laser weld, blast, sonic cleaning, anodization and passivation, tray and pouch sealers, 3D printing and heat treat.
  • Demonstrated hands on technical skills.
  • Must have a hands on approach and highly visible to the production floor.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with lean, six sigma, and related production principles preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, particularly in complex process/product environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a wide range of activities and responsibilities.
