Job summary

MS Companies is helping a client recruit a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer for its Leeds, Alabama facility. This role is approximately 75% shop floor and 25% desk work, supporting a high-mix, low-volume operation involving metal fabrication, welding, CNC processing, and assembly.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, 3+ years (5+ preferred) in manufacturing or process engineering, and strong root cause analysis, communication, and hands-on shop

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Industrial manufacturing experience with fabrication, welding, CNC machining, or assembly.
• Root cause analysis and continuous improvement experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working directly on the shop floor.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Support daily production and resolve process issues and bottlenecks.
• Identify improvements related to safety, quality, scrap, productivity, and cost.
• Create and update work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans.
• Lead capital projects from planning and justification through installation and startup.
• Partner with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and updates.

Salary: $90,000 to $115,000 based on experience

• Experience with PFMEAs, control plans, or capital equipment projects

Responsibilities

• Support daily production and resolve process issues and bottlenecks
• Identify improvements related to safety, quality, scrap, productivity, and cost
• Create and update work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans
• Support equipment and machining troubleshooting without performing maintenance repairsLead capital projects from planning and justification through installation and startup
• Partner with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and updates

This position requires regular time on the production floor and compliance with all plant safety and PPE requirements.
