Job description

Overview

This is a project-based, hands-on engineering role focused on supporting operations and engineering teams (mechanics, welders, machinists) across diverse initiatives. It is strictly on-site, with no remote work option.

Base pay range

$36.00/hr - $38.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Safety Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Develop and maintain detailed work instructions for new and existing processes.
  • Train experimental mechanics and create training programs.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts targeting safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and quality.
  • Collaborate with operations leads and engineering managers on cost-saving projects and process improvements.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate machine tooling and equipment purchases.
  • Lead capital projects for new tooling and fixtures.
  • Potential involvement in fixture, jig, and test equipment design.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Illinois EPA, and internal safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering (minimum).
  • 8+ years of experience preferred; candidates with a master’s degree may be considered with slightly less experience.
Must-Have Skills
  • Communication: Ability to engage with mechanics, engineers, and external partners.
  • Lean Six Sigma: Experience in lean methodologies is highly valued.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to visualize and execute hands-on solutions in a dynamic shop environment.
