Jobtailor is seeking a Project Engineer to coordinate and execute engineering projects, produce 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D Inventor models, and manage drawings and BOMs for plant equipment.

The role involves cost estimation with senior engineers, preparation of appropriation requests, and travel up to 30% to sites for observations and installation oversight. You will collaborate across engineering and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years in project engineering.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor and other drawing software.
  • Basic understanding of Strength of Materials, Statics, Dynamics, and Machine Design.
  • Knowledge of or experience in project management tools and techniques.
  • 30% travel expectation

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, schedule, and execute engineering projects, including equipment design and plant engineering.
  • Estimate job costs in collaboration with senior engineers.
  • Prepare appropriation requests and project documentation, including approved drawing sets, bills of materials, and project folders.
  • Create 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D Inventor models.
  • Manage projects and participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
  • Maintain project directories, drawings, cut sheets, and red lines.
  • Track project hours against estimates and provide feedback to the Engineering Manager.
  • Communicate workload and drafting/design issues with the Engineering Manager.
  • Interface with material suppliers as needed.
  • Analyze requirements and develop conceptual designs.
  • Oversee machine fabrication and equipment installation.
  • Travel to sites to discuss engineering needs, observe plant processes, take equipment dimensions, and oversee installation.
