Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, machining, automated equipment, or equipment launches.
  • Background in industrial engineering with mechanical engineering knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in metal stamping or high-volume manufacturing is a plus.
  • Experience supporting new equipment, project launches, and program implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to support production goals, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Analyze material flow, handling, storage, staging, and facility layouts; develop layout solutions using CAD.
  • Identify equipment, tooling, labor, and other resources required for new and existing processes.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installation, vendor coordination, and production start-ups.
  • Create and maintain routings, BOMs, PFMEAs/FMEAs, process documentation, and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and assist suppliers/partners with process launches and improvements.
  • Maintain customer requirements and technical specifications.
  • Support APQP activities and new program implementation.
  • Establish and coordinate preventive maintenance activities for production equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and cost reduction.

Job description

An established manufacturer of engineered metal components is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area.

About the Role:

The individual in this role will support manufacturing operations by developing and optimizing processes for material flow, automation, part handling, washing, packaging, and production equipment. This role will work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, suppliers, and customers to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support new product and equipment launches.
