Job summary

Trane Technologies, Fort Smith, AR, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to support lean initiatives and process improvements for Commercial HVAC products. The role focuses on planning, implementing, and validating new equipment and processes to improve safety, quality, and productivity on the shop floor.

You will collaborate across teams to drive capital projects, optimize production capacity, and deliver robust manufacturing solutions using DFM/DFA, FMEA, and Lean Six Sigma methodology.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer (or similar) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering field preferred.
  • Must have experience managing Automation, robotics, and controls related projects.
  • Some travel (less than 10%) may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Project Capital planning, Business Case creation, manages 5-Gate projects within budget and resources.
  • Drives productivity and business growth through problem solving, coaching, and training.
  • Conduct tests or trials of tools, equipment, and processes.
  • Create and update Standard Work Charts, JBSs, Work Instructions, PFMEAs.
  • Evaluate production capacities.
  • Apply engineering principles to safety and ergonomic improvements.
  • Lead problem solving projects for shop floor efficiency and tool/process improvements.
  • Create reports and presentations for project status to stakeholders.
  • Track and report productivity impacts of projects.
  • Coordinate with resources to achieve strategic goals and support company objectives.
  • Support operations with root cause analysis and corrective actions for safety, quality, and delivery.

We boldly go. Manufacturing Engineer Job Summary: This role supports manufacturing functions for Commercial HVAC products at Trane’s Fort Smith, Arkansas facility. The Manufacturing Engineer will assist with complex technical issues and finding rapid solutions. They will support lean activities and process improvements through the planning, facilitation, and implementation of projects in alignment with strategic goals and metrics for plant safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. The Manufacturing Engineer II is also responsible for the implementation and validation of new equipment and processes throughout the business to improve plant performance using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology.

Responsibilities
  • Project Capital planning, Business Case creation, Manages 5-Gate projects including Business Case, Capital, Expense, and resources to assure milestones are met timely and within the approved budget and resource plan
  • Drives productivity and business growth through problem solving, coaching, and training
  • Conduct tests or trials of tools, equipment, and processes
  • Create and update Standard Work Charts, JBSs, Work Instructions, PFMEAs
  • Evaluate production capacities
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices on safety and ergonomic improvements.
  • Lead problem solving projects to support the shop floor and develop new or improved tools and processes (workstation design, material presentation, etc.)
  • Create reports and presentations to update stakeholders and management on project status and progress
  • Track and report productivity impacts of projects
  • Coordinates with resources throughout the larger organization to achieve strategic goals and participate in a cooperative effort to support the company’s goals
  • General duties to work with the operations team driving root cause and corrective actions for issues pertaining to safety, quality, and customer delivery driving the implementation – Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering fundamentals.

  • Ability to create drawings in compliance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5
  • Ability to conduct various types of structural analysis using by-hand and computer assisted methods
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and welding techniques
  • Fluent ability to create manufacturing and assembly processes and tools
  • Extensive understanding and ability to utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and engineering principles to develop robust manufacturing processes the first time
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems such as Hydraulics, Pneumatics and various power drives (e.g. gears, chain & sprocket, belt & sheave, etc.)
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical power
  • Fundamental understanding industrial automation and controls systems

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $86,169.99
