Trane Technologies seeks a Manufacturing Engineer on-site in Columbia, SC to develop and maintain production processes, driving quality and efficiency for new product introductions and process improvements.

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with lean principles and techniques to include Visual Management, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Cycle Time Reduction and Process Balancing, Yokoten, 5S, Set Up Reduction (SMED), and Kanban.
  • Strong analytic skills, with ability to clearly link operational performance drivers to financial results.
  • PLC Programming and Automation knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology.
  • Assumes responsibility for Capital planning, CER creations and Approvals, Capital Project Timing and Implementation, Capital Spending and Budgeting/
  • Assumes responsibility for Plant VA/VE Savings.
  • Ensures all equipment meets OSHA compliant safety regulations.
  • Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training and project reviews including: PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP), Lean Tools, Project Management and Simultaneous Engineering.
  • Manages, develops and improves manufacturing standards including machine capability and capacity, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings and cycle times.

What you will bring:

  • Ability to utilize engineering principles to develop robust manufacturing processes the first time.
  • Ability to use such management-leadership techniques such as; project mgt., objective development and project review disciplines.
  • Fluent knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, assembly and quality control processes.
  • Strong leadership skills to drive engineering principles and processes.
  • Understanding of Lean, 3P, Kaizen and Six Sigma programs.
  • Knowledge of new model launch requirements and processes to ensure flawless launch goals.
PC Skills:
  • Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint and MS Project.

Experience in 2D/3D Modeling software (AutoCAD, Pro-E) is desirable.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Requires cross functional communication, simultaneous engineering and reporting.

Ability to resolve multiple conflicts between widely varying personalities.

Ability to guide and lead non-technical & technical personnel to technical solutions.

Demonstrated implementation of root cause analysis and solutions.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $77,963.33 - $109,340.00 Compensation Type: Salary Incentive Eligible: No Sales Commission Eligible: No Disclaimer: We strive to provide competitive compensation for this position, tailored to a variety of factors.
