Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in Farmers Branch, TX is seeking an on-site Manufacturing Engineer to troubleshoot processes, design tooling, and implement improvements. You will collaborate with production, QA, and facilities to meet quality and cost targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or 7+ years experience.
  • 3–5 years hands‑on manufacturing experience with CNC turning/milling, grinding/polishing and assembly; hot/cold forging a plus.
  • Exposure to general automation, PLC or CNC programming.
  • Experience with process validation, FMEA and risk assessment.
  • Excellent analytical, structured problem‑solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of practical statistics.
  • Proficiency with Creo, Catia or AutoCAD and GD&T.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes using statistics and engineering principles to reduce variability.
  • Ensure product quality, process capabilities and cost targets are met.
  • Design tooling, gaging and fixturing to support manufacturing.
  • Implement process controls and conduct root-cause analysis to improve quality.
  • Collaborate with production, QA and facilities maintenance on equipment issues.
  • Support capital projects to achieve productivity savings.
  • Apply LEAN and Six Sigma to develop process improvements.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to boost productivity.
  • Support new product introductions and upgrades with engineers and supervisors.
  • Develop work instructions and routings for safe, high-quality, efficient targets.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Materials on costs, routings and BOMs.
  • Identify training needs and design programs with Ops/HR.

The Job

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll be part of our engineering team working on site. Your responsibilities include:

  • Using statistical analysis and engineering principles to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and reduce variability.
  • Ensuring product quality, process capabilities, and cost improvement targets are met.
  • Designing tooling, gaging and fixturing required to support manufacturing.
  • Implementing process controls and conducting statistical root cause analysis to improve product quality.
  • Working closely with production, QA and facilities maintenance to troubleshoot and repair production equipment.
  • Supporting capital improvement projects that lead to productivity savings.
  • Employing LEAN principles and Six Sigma methodologies to develop process improvements.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and equipment vendors to increase productivity.
  • Partnering with Supervisors, Team Leads and Design Engineering to support new product introductions and product upgrades or cost improvement initiatives.
  • Developing work instructions and routings to achieve the safest, highest quality and most efficient targets using standard Industrial Engineering principles.
  • Working closely with Finance and Materials to ensure correct manufacturing costs, process routings and bill of materials are in place.
  • Collaborating with Operations and HR teams to determine key training needs and design programs that directly address those needs.
The Person

The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (BSIE / BSME / BSMfgE preferred) or 7+ years related experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on manufacturing experience with exposure to CNC turning/milling, grinding/polishing and assembly; knowledge of hot or cold forging is a plus.
  • Exposure to general automation, PLC or CNC programming.
  • Experience with process validation, FMEA and risk assessment.
  • Excellent analytical, structured problem‑solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of practical statistics.
  • Proficiency with Creo, Catia or AutoCAD and knowledge of geometric dimensioning & tolerance.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills—effective communication with employees at all levels.

The Details

Salary range: $72,000.00 – $115,900.00. The salary offered may vary based on location, experience and other factors.
