Location: Elyria, OH, USA

The Job

Mechanical Engineer in the Systems Engineering team, working onsite. Responsibilities include design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems for our Nelson Stud Welding platforms and related products.

Responsibilities

• Become intimately familiar with Automated, Semi‑Automated, and Manual Nelson Stud Welding systems and recommend cost‑effective improvements.
• Design, develop, and update mechanical systems for new applications, system improvements, and cost savings.
• Participate in product launches through FMEA, DVP&R, and 8D methodology.
• Utilize DFMEA to capture lessons learned and drive product improvement activities.
• Provide expert assistance to manufacturing and repair personnel for troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Coordinate specification and build of complete systems to meet customer requirements.
• Assist with mechanical tooling component sourcing and verification of test and performance requirements.
• Utilize Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics to mathematically model systems when required.
• Travel up to 10% of the time on a global scale.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of on‑the‑job experience in detail mechanical design and development or application development.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering theory, drafting skills, and electrical/mechanical systems practices.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and NX (preferred); familiarity with Autodesk Inventor and UG (Unigraphics) is a plus.
• Experience with PDM systems such as PTC/WindChill is preferred.

Salary

Competitive salary range: $72,000.00 – $115,900.00, depending on level, location, and experience.
