Job summary

Batory Foods is seeking an EHS Specialist for our Chicago facility to lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives. You will partner with site leadership to strengthen safety culture, control hazards, maintain regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement.

The role may require occasional travel (~10%) to support other company facilities and safety programs as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety or Health Sciences preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience in the EHS field in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations for manufacturing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Familiarity with EHS software such as Alchemy, VelocityEHS, SDS Online.
• Knowledge of VPP principles is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to operations, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Foster a culture of proactive safety by promoting continuous improvement, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazards related to manufacturing processes, machinery, and materials.
• Provide guidance and support to employees and management on health and safety-related matters, addressing hazards and risks.
• Participate in incident investigations and collaborate to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Assist in the development and delivery of health and safety training programs for employees.
• Drive the behavior-based safety program through employee engagement and observation.
• Stay informed about industry best practices and safety technologies to enhance proactive safety efforts.
• Maintain knowledge of VPP and utilize relevant principles to enhance the safety program.
