Job summary

Shirley Parsons is seeking an EHS Engineer for a heavy industrial manufacturing site south of Kalamazoo, MI, near Three Rivers. The role focuses on driving a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading continuous improvement across the site.

Responsibilities include leading EHS programs, conducting risk assessments, delivering trainings, and managing incident investigations while coordinating medical surveillance and environmental permitting.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or heavy industry (co-op/internship acceptable).
• Working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Experience with incident investigations, hazard recognition, and risk reduction.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant EHS programs and compliance activities.
• Conduct workplace assessments and implement risk reduction measures.
• Deliver safety and environmental training programs.
• Manage incident investigations and support the incident learning process.
• Coordinate medical surveillance and employee qualification programs.
• Maintain environmental compliance programs, including SWPPP, SPCC, EMS, and air/water permitting requirements.
• Serve as the site's primary contact for routine environmental matters.
• Lead spill response efforts and support emergency preparedness activities.
• Build strong relationships with employees, supervisors, and plant leadership to strengthen safety performance.
