Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Mt. Airy, NC seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to partner with plant operations, R&D and leadership to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments and implement preventative measures.

The role requires experience with OSHA standards, incident investigations, safety program development, and strong leadership to drive continuous safety improvements and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety or related field.
• At least 5 years of health and safety experience in manufacturing or related environment.
• Experience with OSHA standards and safety management systems.
• Experience with incident investigations.
• Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM is preferred.
• Experience managing Workers' Compensation claims preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage health and safety policies, procedures and programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and local regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits and incident investigations, including root causes.
• Provide safety training and orientation for employees and temporary staff.
• Oversee Workers' Compensation reporting and claims administration.
