Job summary

Carpenter Co. is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager for our Mt. Airy, NC manufacturing plant. You will partner with Plant Operations, R&D, and leadership to identify hazards, assess risks, implement safety measures, investigate incidents, and deliver training.

The role requires planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs with engineering principles, driving continuous improvement and zero-incident goals across the facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or science related field.
• At least 5 years of health and safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or automotive environment.
• Experience with incident investigation and OSHA standards.
• Strong leadership, training, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage health and safety policies, procedures, and programs across plant operations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulations, and safety standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations; determine root causes.
• Lead safety orientation for new hires and temporary staff; manage Worker's Compensation program.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and regulatory compliance; drive continuous improvement.
