Job summary

Shutterfly is seeking a highly organized Technical Writer I to support Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, and Operational Excellence initiatives. This role creates, maintains, and improves documentation for production operations and regulatory compliance across our manufacturing environment.

You will collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Safety, and Continuous Improvement teams to translate complex processes into clear procedures, work instructions, SOPs, and training materials,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technical writing, English, communications, business, manufacturing tech, industrial engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 0-2 years of technical writing, documentation management, quality systems, manufacturing support, or related experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to organize information clearly and manage multiple projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit, and maintain manufacturing and quality documentation (SOPs, Work Instructions, Quality Standards, Inspection Procedures, Training Materials, Process Flow Diagrams, Job Aids, Equipment guides).
• Ensure documentation follows control requirements, versioning, and quality standards.
• Review existing documentation and update content for changes in processes, equipment, systems, or organization.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to gather technical information and document production processes.
• Observe operations on the production floor to capture workflows and requirements.
• Support audits and compliance documentation and drive standardization across departments.
