Job summary

Times Microwave Systems in Connecticut is seeking a Manufacturing Document Engineer to capture tribal knowledge, eliminate issues, and transfer manufacturing expertise to the technical writing team. The role supports the creation, review, release, and maintenance of documentation for RF cable assemblies and related manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate has a technical engineering degree and hands-on experience in RF cable manufacturing, Lean/Six Sigma, and document control.

Qualifications

  • Engineering or similarly technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the manufacture of raw RF cable or cable assemblies.
  • Experience applying Lean principles and tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing control processes and procedures, including change management, nonconformance reports, engineering specifications, takt time/rate, CAPA, and work instructions.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and/or other structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Technical Writing teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical and manufacturing knowledge into clear, effective documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Bring hands-on manufacturing experience and a practical understanding of manufacturing processes to the development and improvement of technical documentation.
  • Perform and manage assembly document redlines.
  • Identify recurring issues and systemic root causes associated with document redlines and drive actions to reduce and eliminate them.
  • Capture and document tribal knowledge to reduce reliance on undocumented processes and individual expertise.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process and system improvements within the MI team.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations during first-time builds to identify documentation gaps and manufacturing challenges.
  • Implement and maintain document control processes to ensure material and process compliance.
  • Identify and implement documentation process improvements that address manufacturing inefficiencies and recurring failures.
  • Identify and support root cause analysis of design-related mechanical and electrical failures occurring on the production floor.
  • Create, maintain, review, improve, and troubleshoot documentation related to the manufacturing and testing of RF coaxial cable assemblies.
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation complies with internal standards, processes, procedures, and configuration control requirements.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of work instructions, engineering specifications, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Support cross-functional teams in resolving documentation and manufacturing issues and improving first-pass execution.

The Manufacturing Document Engineer works closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to capture and eliminate tribal knowledge, identify and address root causes of manufacturing issues, and transfer manufacturing expertise to the MI Technical Writing team. This position supports Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations in creating, reviewing, releasing, and maintaining technical and manufacturing documentation. The role also supports Oracle maintenance, configuration control, document process improvements, and the documentation of manufacturing and testing processes.
