Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer (MDE) to drive manufacturing process development for critical design features. You will lead process development, define equipment and qualification plans, and collaborate with Industrial Design, Product Design, and suppliers worldwide.

In this role you will use data, DOEs and SPC to optimize yield, own process changes, and ensure quality across contract manufacturers. Travel up to 35% is expected.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-time mechanical manufacturing experience.
• Travel up to 35% domestically and internationally.
• Hands-on mechanical ability and strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with cosmetic parts or consumer electronics/manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define best-in-class manufacturing processes to meet Apple design and operational requirements.
• Develop and document processes with parameters, consumables and secondary operation requirements.
• Collaborate with Global Supply Managers to define supply chain requirements using equipment and suppliers.
• Provide leadership at manufacturing sites during development and product ramp, driving issues to resolution.
• Use data to drive process decisions, DOE, SPC, and related analyses.
• Identify, research, develop, and qualify premier equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
• Define part tolerances and specifications with Product/Industrial Designers.
