Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks an experienced Manufacturing Controller to lead the accounting function for its Western Pennsylvania facility. You will oversee day-to-day operations, driving accurate financial reporting and strong controls while guiding a team across AP, AR, payroll, pricing, and front-office administration.

The role emphasizes month-end close, budgeting and forecasting, inventory reporting, product costing, and audit support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Prior supervisory or management experience.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with inventory accounting, product costing, and profitability analysis.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• CPA is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports.
• Supervise a team of approximately five employees across Accounting and related administrative functions.
• Oversee AR, AP, Payroll, Pricing, and Reception operations.
• Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts receivable and partner with Sales leadership on outstanding balances.
• Partner with Production to ensure accurate production reporting, inventory control, and costing.
• Review product costing, profitability, and future job pricing.
• Manage fixed asset accounting and reporting, including capital expenditure justification.
• Prepare the annual budget and monthly forecasts while analyzing actual results against budget.
• Partner with Internal Audit and coordinate necessary follow-up activities.
• Support annual audits and other financial compliance requirements.
• Partner with Human Resources on government reporting and training grant submissions.
• Complete annual census and other required reports.
• Conduct performance evaluations and support the development of accounting staff.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable laws.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and overall efficiency.
