Job summary

GRIT Staffing & HR Solutions is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee manufacturing accounting at our Newark-Clifton, NJ campuses. You will ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, strong internal controls, and accurate inventory valuation while partnering with plant leadership to drive cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years as a manufacturing Controller, CPA/CMA preferred, and deep SAP B1 and Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA/CMA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years as Controller in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in food & beverage manufacturing preferred.
• 5+ years ERP experience; SAP B1 highly preferred.
• Strong GAAP, FASB, accrual accounting, fixed asset accounting, and internal controls knowledge.
• Solid costing, inventory valuation, BOMs, variances, and cost accounting understanding.
• Advanced Excel and financial reporting tool proficiency.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statements, budgets and forecasts.
• Familiarity with GL reconciliations, bank recs, month-end close, audit support.
• Knowledge of collections, credit management, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead Financial Operations: oversee daily accounting operations and GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Manage Cost Accounting: standard costing, BOMs, variances, and inventory valuation.
• Prepare Financial Reporting: monthly/quarterly/annual statements and profitability analyses.
• Support Budgeting & Forecasting: lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasts for manufacturing.
• Oversee Inventory Controls: validate cycle counts and inventories for raw materials, WIP, FG.
• Partner with Operations: collaborate to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintain Internal Controls: strengthen controls and audit readiness.
• Coordinate ERP & Financial Systems: ensure integrity, improve ERP processes (SAP B1).
