Job summary

stafffinancialgroup seeks a hands-on Controller in Denver, CO to build the accounting function from the ground up, develop policies, implement systems and controls, and prepare for the first financial audit while supporting growth across manufacturing projects.

This role requires a strong background in cost and manufacturing accounting, U.S. GAAP, and ERP implementation, with the ability to lead and mentor a growing accounting team.

Qualifications

• 12+ years progressive accounting experience including manufacturing.
• CPA required; bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.
• Strong cost accounting and manufacturing accounting expertise.
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage internal accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with clear timelines and accuracy standards.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Lead preparation for and management of the first external financial audit.
• Serve as finance lead for ERP implementation and system transitions.
• Partner with operations, supply chain, and engineering to ensure accurate data flow.
• Implement systems to track inventory, fixed assets, and capital project spending.
• Develop processes for capital expenditures, asset capitalization, and depreciation.
• Support project accounting including construction-in-progress and project cost tracking.
• Collaborate with leadership and FP&A to translate results into actionable insights.
• Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team.
