Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist to coordinate process improvements at the Greensboro site. You will lead CI initiatives, influence engineers and operators to apply CI best practices, and execute CI projects in a hands-on environment.

The role reports to the Maintenance and Continuous Improvement Manager and is an on-site position at the Greensboro Production Facility. Travel up to 50% of the time is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or other suitable technical field, Master's degree preferred.
• 2+ years proven experience with LSS/Continuous Improvement in a chemical / food / manufacturing environment
• Green belt six sigma

Responsibilities

• Assess and deploy CI development plans and set goals, responsibilities, and define KPI targets with site business strategy.
• Identify, scope, and implement CI projects; responsibilities include project selection, scope and overall assignment, launch, prioritization tracking and deliverables.
• Work with leaders, engineers, and operators to coach CI methodologies.
• Ensure the instruction and use of best practices (e.g., LSS, kaizen, DMAIC, GB/YB, 5S, value stream mapping).
• Conduct LSS Assessments, define action plans to close gaps and track execution across departments.
• Work with Operators to ensure they are trained and assist them as they improve manufacturing efficiencies utilizing best practice CI tools/techniques.
• Align with Quality Assurance to deliver cost-effective end-to-end processes.
• Travel throughout the region at least 50% of the time.
